Oster TSSTTVXLDG Extra Large Digital Toaster Oven, Stainless Steel

Oster TSSTTVXLDG Extra Large Digital Toaster Oven, Stainless Steel

Oster recently released a toaster oven of the extra large variety. And when I say extra large, I mean extra large. Seriously, you could replace your oven with this thing. Some may call it practical, some may call it unnecessary. Here’s what I think.

Look, if you just want a toaster oven to heat up old slices of pizza on Sunday mornings while thinking about why on earth you ordered an extra large all to yourself the night before, you’re probably going to want to settle for something else. This thing isn’t just a convenience, nor is it a novelty. If you pick this thing up, you’d better be doing some heavy-duty cooking. According to the manufacturer, the Oster can easily hold a whole chicken or 16 inch (generally regarded as extra large) pizza. If you’re looking to cook a chicken without preheating an entire conventional oven, this toaster over is definitely the way to go.

This is where things get exciting. This Oster product is looking more and more like a fancy oven and less like a toaster oven with each feature. For starters, it’s got five different cooking settings: bake, broil, defrost, toast and pizza (that extra large pizza just keeps looking better and better). It’s also a convection oven. Cooking by convection isn’t something we see in many toaster ovens (or normal home ovens, for that matter). Convection ovens provide great, even cooking no matter what rack you place your food on, which is why we see convection ovens used in nearly every industrial food establishment.

The Look

I love the look of this thing. It’s not as if your eyes immediately draw to it when you walk into the kitchen – it’s just got a look about it that blends in with anything. No matter what style your kitchen is, this toaster oven will complement it. If you have an industrialized kitchen (stainless steel, more deep fryers than any living person needs, etc.), this won’t only compliment it, but make it look better. It’s definitely something you can show off to guests.

This product more resembles a small oven rather than a toaster oven. It’s got every feature and all the room you need. As far as toaster ovens go, this is – in my opinion – one of the best models out there. I have to give this a solid 5 out of 5 stars. Its only drawback is its large size if you regularly heat up small meals like a bowl of pasta or a slice of pizza.

Who This Product Best Suits

If you’re a serious cook and find yourself sick of waiting for your oven to preheat, this is definitely for you. It being of smaller size than a standard oven coupled with convection cooking makes this baby heat up in minutes. Not to mention, you’re most likely getting way more/better features with this than with the oven you currently have taking up space in your home. It’s quick, it’s efficient and it can take on anything you throw at it. Unless you’re one to cook single-person meals 6 days out of the week, this toaster oven is for you.
