Wood Working Safety & Setup

Wood Working Safety & Setup

In a prior article, the topic was about stocking your garage with the appropriate tools for woodworking. The article never got around to describing your workspace, so this is to follow up. As with the prior, if you’re a novice handyman or woodworker, keep reading for some basic information and guidelines on how to set up your garage and stay safe.

The importance of safety when operating machinery can never be understated

If you to work with tools or power tools, please know your workspace and your equipment. Have all the safety equipment needed to complete your respective tasks and follow protocol. The time or money “saved” in shirking these tasks may be lost in damages or worse yet spent in the hospital recovering. Take care of your tools (body included) and they’ll take care of you.

Accidents are exactly that, but they can be avoided, especially in your garage because you have control of everything. The causes of accidents are usually inattention, taking unnecessary risks, fatigue, and bad judgment. Poor instruction and not being educated on the equipment also causes its fair share. Unsuitable clothing, missing guards, lack of eye protection and poor lighting can be easily avoided as well.

Keeping a clean shop is one of the easiest ways to make sure it’s safe. Mark a designated area for all of your tools and make sure they end up there when you’re finished. Sort nails, screws and other hardware in containers. Have a garbage can and don’t leave trash anywhere else. Keep a clean shop keeps animals and insects out and makes it more pleasant to be in.

If the job you’re doing requires more than one person, get another person. It may not be the “manly” thing to do, but you’ll likely be working with heavy mechanical equipment and if you can an accident and no one is there to help you, the fault lies squarely on your shoulders.

Working when fatigued should be avoided, especially as a hobbyist. Woodcrafting is supposed to be fun and you aren’t at your best when you’re exhausted. Also, don’t work under the influence of medication or substances. You’d be in a potentially worse position than if you were simply tired.

Always wear eye and ear protection if need. Heavy machinery can be loud, very loud and you only have one set of ears. A good set of headphones will preserve your hearing and make work generally more pleasurable. Eye protection is overlooked often but considering that you will get saw dust every, it’s a must.

If you’re wearing eye protection to stop the sawdust, you would do well to wear a mask or respirator when necessary. Set up a garage dust collections system if you’re constantly sawing and keeping that new door you got on Garage Automatics open will likely do wonders for ventilation.

Store and label all of your chemicals, preferably in a place your children can’t access if you have any. Also, use the proper equipment when handling them be it gloves, eye protection or a mask.

This one should go without saying, but sandals, flip flops, and bare feet have no place in a workshop. A good pair of steel or composite toe boots will make sure you still have all your digits when you leave the garage. Note: Loose fitting clothing shouldn’t be worn around machinery. Loose clothing will put you at risk by getting caught and pulling you in.

If any oil is spilled in your garage, use some of you likely great reserves of sawdust to soak it up, then sweep it up and you’re free to throw it away. Cleaning it up immediately will save you headaches in the future.

All of the lights

One of the easiest things to manage to drastically improve your work area is the lighting. When placing the lights in your garage, you should mount them in parallel rows no more than six feet apart. The goal is for the shadows of one to be filled the light of the next.

If possible, you want to illuminate everything, without creating gaps or getting in the way of your work. When setting up, also, try to avoid glare, this can be dangerous. Fluorescent lamps will last roughly 5 or so years but can lose light output over time. Dirt and dust can also reduce efficiency so remember to clean.

Joiners Bench

Your joiners bench or workbench can be the centerpiece of your garage. You’ll likely use it a lot for measuring and minor work. Set it up at a comfortable height for you and make sure it’s sturdy. Add fixtures and attachments as needed and it can be as much as tool as any other in your garage.

Besides that, you’re just going to need tools and proper equipment. Remember to follow safety protocol and have fun.

9 Simple Ways to Improve Your Posture

Over time, bad posture can be due to habits from daily activities like cradling a mobile phone, driving, prolonged standing, taking care of small children, carrying a handbag over the same shoulder, staring at your computer, sitting in an office chair, or even sleeping.

Poor posture can become second nature easily, causing and worsening episodes of neck and back pain as well as damaging the spine. Luckily, you can control the major factors affecting posture and change them.

The following guidelines recommend several methods to improve your posture, especially if you work sitting in the office most of the day.

Identify good posture

To achieve great posture, you first should know what it feels and looks like. It involves a little more than simply sitting up straight.

Using a full length mirror, align your hips, shoulders, and ears so they create a straight line.

It’s best to wear well-fitting clothes during this exercise, to help you better see where the shoulders and hips line up.

Get moving

Sitting still for prolonged periods leads to muscle fatigue and back pain. Sadly, most people working in office environments have to sit facing a computer for a long time. It can be difficult to observe good posture in such a scenario, so it’s vital to set aside a little time to get up and about. This will help keep your muscles from becoming too stiff and painful. The more you can move around and work out or do some light stretches, the better. You can set an alarm or timer to reminder yourself when to get up and be active at least every couple of hours.

Use ergonomic seating

If possible, use an office chair that enhances good posture. Also, know how long it takes for you to sit in front of your computer or read at home. Ergonomic seating can make a world of difference when it comes to preventing back strains due to poor posture. Invest in ergonomic seating in the office or at home and save yourself a great deal of pain.

Investing in a posture brace

While it may sound serious, back issues are debilitating and may be costly down the load. The leading cause of missed work is back pain, and it’s the number one reason for adults visiting the doctor. So how do posture braces work? Well, a posture brace can give you a firm, constant reminder to stand and sit properly. It can be uncomfortable initially, but it will help your back eventually.

Strengthen core muscles

You need to have a strong core so it can properly support your body weight. Otherwise, it will be difficult to maintain good posture and prevent back pain. Pilates and yoga are perfect exercises to strengthen your core and, over time, both will provide you with better posture. Yoga will give you the discipline required to hold one position for a long time, ultimately helping your avoid back strains. Dance classes are perfect if you want something fun that will also promote good posture and a strong core.

Pay attention to your posture

Good posture is some kind of habit you’ll need to pay attention to until it becomes second nature. Whenever you stand up, think about your posture. Check if your body is aligned. Ask your friends or loved ones to help you remember to straighten up when you’re slouching.

Avoid high heels (for women)

If possible, avoid wearing high heels as much as possible. High heels change the centre of gravity of your body, misaligning it. If you must wear high heels, consider smaller varieties if you care about having a better posture.

Get confident

Posture does affect confidence but confidence affects posture too. When you are confident, your posture will also improve. Confidence is simply a habit that can be learnt, so read a few articles online on how you can improve your confidence.

Do overdo it

If you try too hard to stay straight, you’ll get uncomfortable and eventually forget about good posture. Allow some flexibility in your knees and neck. Shift your weight around regularly. You aren’t after a rigid body, after all. You don’t want to be a robot as your spinal cord has got a natural curve. Just remember that your ear, shoulder and hip are aligned—that’s enough for a good posture.

What Should You Expect From a Full Car Service?

When it comes to your car, what’s checked and how it’s done can vary from one garage to the other but all garages generally tend to check your car’s overall health. In addition, the number of areas checked depends on the kind of service your vehicle needs.

If your car is going for a full service (usually done every 12,000 miles or 12 months), then the checks will be comprehensive and will include the details discussed below. Interim services (usually done every 6,000 miles or 6 months) are less comprehensive and not everything is checked in detail. That said, these are the details that are checked during a full car service. Make sure to check this link for more information about car servicing.

Engine

All the components of the engine will undergo rigorous checks and tests. This includes inspecting the rear axle and transmission, coolant hoses, clutch, the radiator, fuel and air filters, fuel pipes, auxiliary drive belt, the exhaust system, and spark plugs. It also involves comprehensive checks of suspension linkages, shock absorbers, ball joints, and the gaiters and drive shaft joints.

Car’s interior

The interior of the vehicle is also checked during a full service. Seat belts are tested to make sure they’re in excellent working order in case of a collision. In addition, all the mirrors (external and internal) are inspected to ensure they’re working, as are the doors, locks, interior lights, and seats. The handbrake is also is also checked to ensure it is working.

Tyres

Tyres will be inspected for obvious damage like punctures and cracks. Also, the service will include ensuring that the tyres have the minimum tread depth required and that they’re inflated to the required pressure level.

Lights

No service will be complete without a comprehensive inspection of your car’s exterior lights. This includes ensuring that all rear, front, main, and side lights are in good working order. Hazard lights and indicators will be checked as well, as will reverse and brake lights, registration lights, and fog lights.

Fluids

A garage will check your car’s engine oil level and replace it if needed or top it up. They’ll also check the oil filter’s condition and replace it if required. This service includes checking if there’s adequate windscreen washer liquid in the car. Also, power steering fluid and engine coolant levels will be topped up if necessary.

Brakes

The brakes will be fully inspected. This will include seeing if there’s sufficient brake fluid and ensuring it’s in great condition. There’ll also be an inspection of the pipes which carry the brake fluid and brakes pads will also be checked to ensure they have the right depth. If necessary, all these elements might be replaced.

Electrics

The basic electrics in the vehicle will be tested, i.e the starter motor, the alternator, and the battery. The battery will undergo checks for leaks as well as clear signs of damage. In addition, the wiring will be examined for signs of damage and wear.

Windscreen

Damage to both windscreens will be assessed, looking for any dangerous cracks or chips. All windows on the car will be examined for safety, as will washers and wipers. After all, these are essential for seeing properly on the road no matter the elements.

Instruments

All services involve a test to ensure that all electrical instruments, such as speedometer, mileage counter, rev counter etc. are in good working order. All the warning lights and gauges will be inspected, as will the horn.

Wheels

Apart from thorough tyre checks, wheels also undergo a full inspection. The balancing and wheel bearings are examined fully, as are the suspension and wheel alignment.

Vehicle road test

After every component is examined and tested, the car undergoes a road test to ensure it is performing well and that no issues arise when the engine is powered on and the vehicle is moving.

So, this is a detailed overview of a full vehicle service. Keep in mind that during the service, you may be told that fluids need to be replaced or certain parts need replacing. This will add to your bill once your vehicle has been thoroughly serviced. Due to the unidentified wear on your car’s components, it’s impossible to get a quote that covers materials and parts before inspection.

What Do You Need to Build Muscle and Stay fit?

Many people avoid this subject for various reasons. This is because everyone has his own set of training equipment when it comes to weight training. Being the best exercise ever, we need to look at the basic equipment you need to replace that ton of fat with muscle.

To benefit from weight training, you need to have the ultimate training experience. You need essential equipment no matter where you are training from. Let us check out the top equipment that shouldn’t miss in your training area.

Weights

These represent the first and most important equipment you need to have. These weights come in different types, and it is best to have all the types because you need a specific type for specific weight movements. Barbells, adjustable dumbbells and dumbbell weights are the common types of weights.

Most gyms have dumbbells and barbells. If you are training from home, I would suggest you get adjustable dumbbells to start with. This is because you get to adjust the weight depending on your needs. With these dumbbells, you eliminate the need to have different weights.

Weight Rack

If you have a lot of weights or dumbbells, you are better off if you have a weight rack to hold the different weight sets when not in use. The rack also keeps your weights well organized and gives you easy access to them. The rack also keeps the weights at a central point so that you don’t trip on them as you move around.

Gym Bench

You will need a surface from which you can perform various exercises. A gym bench gives you the essential surface to work from. Use the bench to execute bench presses, triceps extensions, shoulder presses, upright rows and many other exercises. You can get creative with the bench and hit every muscle group.

You are better off with a bench that you can adjust. This means that you can adjust the bench to a reclining or a declining position to give you a different position for working out.

You can also modify the gym bench to work as a sit up bench. This bench helps you hit the abs.

Weight Training Gloves

The weights and dumbbells might be a bit heavy and rough on your hands. You might end up with minor injuries and blisters if you handle the weights using bare hands. Using these gloves cushions your palm against the abrasive nature of the weights. The gloves also give you the best grip especially when you have sweaty palms.

Exercise Balls

These are essential for abs training, which is one of the toughest exercises to execute. Using the exercise ball adds intensity to the ab workout and makes other exercises more challenging.

Smith Machine

At times, you need to perform resistance training so that you can handle more weight. One of the best ways to do this is to invest in a smith machine, which allows you to target basically all body parts using a single machine. The smith machine allows you the luxury of adjusting the weight depending on your ability. Another benefit of using this machine is that it takes up little space as compared to having individual equipment for each body part, making it ideal for home gyms.

The Right Schedule

You need to follow a regular training program in order to achieve your weight training target. Jumping straight away into a weight training program is one of the biggest mistakes people make. There are so many training programs on the internet, but few fit the bill. You can’t keep on moving from one program to the next seeking for the perfect one.

One of the top schedules you can use and get the results you desire is The body beast schedule. This schedule comes in phases, with each phase giving you a set of workouts to get you ripped or bigger. This schedule is ideal even for hard gainers.

On Your Marks, Set, Build Muscle!

It doesn’t take rocket science to build the muscles you desire, all you need is the right equipment and a schedule to match. Make sure you have all you need to start the journey to getting ripped, and while at it, make sure you have the right weight training program to keep you committed to the cause.

During boxing training, you mostly concentrate on head movement, strategy, balance, and footwork.  In boxing, you are supposed to employ defensive skills effectively to ensure that you hit the target as much as possible.  You should make sure that there are very few chances of being hit.

Boxing classes do not favor any student, and you will be put together with other students who are actively involved in the lessons. The boxing classes are vital, and instructors encourage people to attend and learn the skills which can be essential in a very dangerous situation. There are lessons conducted on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays.  The training experience offered on these days last for 90minutes, and you can still have lessons on Monday and Wednesday which last for 60minutes mostly offered during lunch time to people who are busy at work.  The lessons are very flexible, and if you have a tight work schedule, you are allowed to arrive for the training minutes earlier or even attend later to ensure that the classes do not collude with your day job.

The instructors are available to offer you lessons when you are available, and they ensure that you are comfortable throughout the training period.  These classes have major subdivisions.  The instructor takes you through a warm-up session to condition you and stretch your muscles to ensure that you are fit for the training.  After the first meeting, you go through another session where demonstrations to show you how you should box in a ring.  Drilling of the various boxing techniques is also essential to give you a real boxing experience. The boxing demonstrations that are important to trainees include;

  • Guard- this is to impact you with defensive techniques which are imperative for a boxer.

Once you acquire boxing techniques, you go through rigorous exercises which are meant to ensure that you are physically fit. Exercises are also crucial to help you to be able to adhere to boxing classes.  Sparring is also part of the boxing lessons, but this is with the consent of both the instructor and the trainee.  The sparring lessons are offered on a technical approach to make sure that you can defend yourself when you are in a threatening situation.  These sparring techniques are ideal because they help you as a trainee to improve your skills and become a great boxer.

These people are friendly, and they eventually become close to you and become your family.  The instructors are supportive, and the trainees should be welcoming to beginners. You feel motivated at when you are working with a dedicated team, and with continued practice, you can become a perfect boxer and join the country’s boxing team.  When the lessons become so tight the self-motivated trainers and fellow trainees encourage you to press on, and eventually you get used to the training, and you can handle all the challenges efficiently.

Instructors should always be humble, and they should not treat beginners with arrogance because they have numerous titles.  The instructors are affordable ensuring that you get valuable lessons.  The training atmosphere should always be conducive and very relaxing to help you concentrate on the training.

Get The Best t of an Acoustic Recording Session

Are you curious about the best way to record an acoustic guitar in the home? Let us look at some of the tips to help you get the perfect sound both before and during the session. These tips are vital, and you will agree with me that recording an acoustic guitar isn’t a walk in the park. You might think you have captured the best performance only to find out that there is a flaw in sonic delivery. Let us see how to make it work.

Use the Right Recording Gear

If you don’t have the right equipment, you won’t get the right results, unless you want to settle just for anything.

Before you go ahead and find the right spot for recording your track, you need to have the right tools. Make sure the guitar is working perfectly and tuned up for the session. If you need any other accessories make sure they are ready.

One of the tools that should receive a lot of focus is the microphone. You need one that has the best acoustic recording capabilities. Limit your choice to condensers. As much as dynamic mics can do a lot of things well when it comes to acoustic guitars they don’t run the show. This is because they fail to capture the finer details of the acoustic guitar’s rich top end. On the other hand, a condenser mic’s diaphragm responds better.

You can choose a mic with either a large or small capsule. If you don’t know what to do, use a large diaphragm condenser for mono techniques and a small diaphragm condenser for stereo miking. There are a lot of mics on the market that can give you the output you desire, for my case I am a fan of this rainier mic that gives the best performance so far.

Get the Perfect Place

You need to find the perfect spot to do the recording. This spot ought to be the best point at which the acoustic guitar (or your voice) sounds best. Take notes while at it, including the specific point and the best height of the mic off the ground. Additionally make sure you note down the ideal distance between you and the mic, the perfect angle in relation to the mic. Better yet, you can get a friend to take a picture while performing a demo at the spot.

Experiment with Different Tempos

Take time to pick the best tempo to use for the song. Get a few tempos that fit the song and experiment with them till you have the perfect mix. The mood goes hand in hand with the tempo. Do you want the guitar to be graceful? Gentle? Smooth? Aggressive? The tempo will dictate the mood, and these will be accentuated by the vocal approach and the guitar part.

Come up with the Perfect Volume Level

You need to set up the volume level so that you don’t end up pushing too hard during each recording. This might end up causing distortion that might ruin an otherwise awesome track. Once you have the perfect pitch and volume, focus on maintaining it at that level especially when you re-sing or replay the part.

Don’t put the volume of the click track too high so that it seeps through your headphones into the mic. It is wise to use a click track during recording, but make sure it isn’t too loud such that the clicks get through to the instrument mic or the vocal.

Consider a Perfect Set Up

If your studio or recording room isn’t soundproof yet you don’t have the budget to implement soundproofing, don’t worry. You can use various ways to stop the bleed-through. One, you can consider a vocal booth (fixed or portable) or get a wind screen.

These tips help you prepare for perfect recording with an acoustic guitar. Let us see what you can do during the session to make everything perfect.

Be Sensitive to the Noises

These include the slide of the arm and hand over the guitar, your breathing, and any other noise that might come from the floor, the chair you are seating on etc. these noises might seem non-trivial and low, but they surely end up contaminating the track. Nothing gives you stress than knowing you have the perfect performance only to realize that the recording has funny noises that weren’t meant to be on the track. Imagine your stomach rumbling just when the track is ending!

Watch out for, and Avoid Squeaks

Yes, they are hard to avoid, but with the right approach, you can minimize them. After recording a track or two, listen keenly to the guitar track for any squeaks. These sounds are as a result of your style or hands. You might have more or less squeaks depending on your style of play. Once you notice squeaks, you need to do away with them. For one, you can acquire coated guitar strings to help reduce this phenomenon.

If it took you time to set up the performance and you are happy about the track, you can note down the times when the squeaking occurred and punch in replacement sections. You can alternatively identify squeakless sections in another part of the track and paste it in the squeaky area.

Don’t be a Drifter

The audience wants to hear the notes of the guitar clearly. If you keep on moving the guitar you might end up losing the audience. Make sure you maintain the positioning through each phase of the song.

Ending the Session like a Pro

Before you decide to terminate the recording session, make sure to listen to the track all the way through without any distraction. Listening to the track as you perform recording can be hard and you might end up losing the perspective.  As you listen, take note of any modifications you need to make for the track to be perfect. Identify any spots you need to punch in and the specific times when anomalies occur. This way you end up with a list of items that you ought to handle when you go in for the final recording.

The Bottomline

Perhaps the ideal tip for capturing the perfect acoustic guitar sounds is patience and being prepared. Make sure you don’t cut any corners during preparation and make sure you have everything you need. Well, the final output might not be what you are looking for, but you have time to rectify any mistakes. Make sure you note down any problems before and during the recording for correction later. Don’t let a single item spoil your perfect track, take time to eliminate any issues so that you end up with a track that will give you what you desire.

Festival Camping Essentials

Festival season is upon us, bringing with it plenty of opportunities for fun and shenanigans. If you’re about to head off to your first ever festival, you may be wondering what you should pack to make your experience an enjoyable one. Use our handy packing list below as a guide to what you should being with you. Bringing the right equipment will ensure you have a good time without having to worry about boring stuff during the event.

A tent

This is the most obvious item you should take with you, unless you’re going somewhere that provides alternative accommodation. The type of tent you will need will depend on your circumstances, but it’s always good to invest in a quality tent, as these can last for years and years. Tents are listed by the number of people they can supposedly accommodate, but it’s important to note that these numbers are not always compatible with the reality of camping. For example, a supposedly two-man tent may only literally fit two people inside – gear not included! If in doubt, always go at least one size up than the number of people the tent is supposed to be for. This will allow you ample space for both you and your things. If at all possible, choose a tent that has both an inner and an outer layer as this allows for more insulation from the elements. Single-skin tents may appear tempting because they are cheaper, but will consistently fail you when things get too hot or too cold. They are also more likely to leak if it rains. If putting up a tent as soon as you get on site is an activity you’d rather avoid, invest in a pop-up tent. Keep in mind, though, that these usually come in larger packs than normal tents and can be awkward to carry around without a car. Also, unlike their easy pop-up setup, packing them back down takes a bit of getting used to.

Sleeping gear

Depending on where you are in the world, you may need to invest in a good quality, three-season sleeping bag. In some countries, summer festivals can get very cold at night and you really don’t want to be cold when trying to sleep. Make sure you read up on what temperatures you can expect where you’re going before deciding whether to invest in a warm sleeping bag or settle for a cheap and cheerful one. For added creature comfort, invest in a camping mat or an inflatable mattress. Apart from adding comfort and keeping you away from the hard ground, rocks, plants and other nasty things that can hide under your tent, this will insulate you further and help you keep warm at night. If you can and are so inclined, you may also want to bring pillows, blankets and anything else you can use to make your camping arrangements feel more like home.

Food storage

Festivals vary in the facilities they provide. While some will offer many options for delicious, locally cooked food, others may offer none at all or basic facilities that are not to your liking. What’s pretty much certain, though, is that any food you buy on site is going to cost more than anything you bring in yourself. The same, of course, goes for drinks, especially alcohol. If you have the space and want to save money, invest in a quality cooler to keep fresh food and drinks cool for as long as possible while at the festival. TentsAndCampGear.com has some good advice on which ones are worth buying. While a cooler won’t keep your food from going off indefinitely, it can certainly give you a few days of uninterrupted fresh food supplies. If you can buy ice at the festival you’re at, it can certainly extend the life of your food even further.

Cooking gear

Some people really enjoy cooking at festivals, but even if you’d rather spend your time dancing, having some basic cooking facilities at camp can come in handy. A simple camping stove and a couple of pots and pans will allow you to make hot drinks and heat up dried foods like ride and pasta that you can have with sachets of sauce. These are less likely to go off so are great for eating around camp. If you’re really into your cooking, you can invest in a fancier model or even a portable BBQ.

5 Ways to Save Money and Time While Planning your Next Event

Party planning is exciting, but can be stressful at the same time. You’ll put a lot of time and effort into planning a beautiful event and making sure everyone has a great time. The more you’re able to stay organized and within a decent budget, the better you’ll feel about hosting a great event. Use these strategies and essentials to stretch your budget and make the most of your time.

Hire a Commuting Bar Staff

Drinks are one of the core essentials that get the party going. It’s not something you want to dabble with if you’re not a master at it. Besides, you’ll have a million things to worry about already. One thing that’s been a hit with events are mobile bars. Unlike just hiring a bartender, mobile bars bring all the essentials to you. It’s not only a good look for you, but it’s also convenient.

With a mobile bar staff, you can focus on entertaining your guests and enjoying your own event. There’s no need to worry about handling your own liquor.  You also won’t have to decide how much to purchase. Certified professionals from the mobile bar will handle it all. Once you take care of the booking the company, your guests can tip at their convenience.

Buy Bluetooth Speakers

Wireless speakers are the new way to enjoy your music. DJs are nice and convenient, but they’re ultimately in control of the music even if you tell them your preferences. It’s also another expense on your list of bills for the event. Depending on the type of event, you’ll come out better using a Bluetooth speaker. On top of being less expensive than hiring someone, it’s convenient in multiple ways.

All you need to do is connect your mobile smart device, through Bluetooth or the auxiliary cable, and pull up the playlist you designed. With the right speaker, you’ll have enough power to blast sound into the next room. You can even have multiple speakers to make a surround sound or have music on the inside and outside. See the Speaker Digital buyer’s guide for details on different features and styles.

Get Help from Friends Who Can Cook

Catering is a great add on for a party, but you have other options for more flexibility with your food. Social media is saturated with delicious recipes shared from foodies all around the world. A party is the perfect time to round up all your friends who want to show off their recipes or try new ones. Go potluck to save money and time on food preparation for your party.

Choose A Party Theme

A theme for the event will set the tone for everything else and make the planning easy. Some popular party themes surround timeframes like the 70s or 80s. A theme based on the culture or geographic location also works well.  Toga parties and Hawaiian Luaus always turn out fun. Other themes involve colors like red, black and white parties or fifty shades of green.

Selecting a theme narrows down your choices with many areas of the party. You can give the bar staff direction on what drinks to prepare if you choose. For the food, you can create a specific menu based on the theme or give your helping hands direction on what dishes to bring. Setting a theme will even help you with making a playlist that will satisfy all your guest.

Learn How to Coupon

Many influencers have made coupons popular again over the last few years. The perfect time to take advantage of their knowledge of the working discounts is while preparing to host your party. You’ll be spending a lot of money on bulks of items, so the discounts on purchasing multiple items will come in handy. Save time and money while planning your next event by making your list based on the savings.

When the big day arrives, it should be a time for you to have fun. It shouldn’t be a stressful time or filled with work leaving you exhausted at the end of the night. If you plan carefully, ask for and accept help from others, and use your money wisely, you’ll be able to enjoy the party just as much as your guests.

The process that goes into making espresso

Through time, we have marveled at the mystery that is espresso. Not many people seem to know much about it in terms of how it’s prepared or even how its original taste ought to be. Andrea Illy, a famous coffee maker, once described espresso as “a miracle of chemistry in a cup.” The misinformation and the misunderstanding have even been made worse by notable coffee makers like Nespresso, Starbucks and other global brands looking to make espresso cheap and easy. Do not fall into their deceit since espresso made right is a wonderful drink; you would not want to put down your cup.

So what is espresso?

Contrary to popular belief, espresso is not a type of roast or coffee bean. Simply put, this is a process of brewing coffee. In fact, any type of coffee can be prepared or brewed using espresso even though some types may taste better than others. To make espresso, you will need to push some near boiling water through a compact puck of ground beans with some pressure exerted, usually about nine times the sea level’s atmospheric pressure. Usually you would find bags of coffee labeled espresso. This could be either because it is a blend made to bring out a balance of flavors or its contents have been pre-ground to help suit the espresso brewing and you can use for your advantage.

A delicate balance of man and machine

Making espresso is not as simple as many would want to believe, it calls for a confluence of events that combines clear mechanical precision with human judgment. Not any one of these can work independently if at all you are looking to prepare the best quality espresso. In fact, it all begins with the roaster making tough decisions. The decisions will have to do with if they will either be blending different coffee types to come up with a balance of flavors or use a single origin bean to portray and experience that will become unique to that specific variety.
The age of your beans is crucial in making espresso. Once a bag of beans is at your disposal, it will be up to you to make sure that they are fresh and that they are no more than two weeks from the day they were roasted and ground. During the preparation, you ought to be quick in your actions since there are some important aromatics that are bound to evaporate within fifteen minutes of grinding. The grind size will vary according to certain characteristics like bean variety, age and roast profile. This is still true, even for the highest level espresso making because there is no secret formula and one will have to make adjustments according to taste. Finally, the coffee will now be dosed, made compact in a portafilter or basket before meeting the mysterious espresso machine.

Heat and pressure

By now, you should know that there is no espresso without the input of heat and pressure. The only difference in terms of taste and quality will come from your judgment when making the coffee. The better your judgment, the higher the quality of espresso you will make. All espresso machines make use of boilers that contain a heating element to help bring the water to the right temperature. The pressure used to pull a shot is generated using steam power, a piston or a motor-driven pump depending on the type of machine used. For commercial machines however, a rotary pump is used to help keep constant pressure while a vibration pump would be used for smaller machines to generate pressure only while the shot is being pulled. It is important to note that stability is one of the most important aspects of any espresso machine. You do not want to experience any fluctuation in temperatures since this can drastically alter the taste of the coffee, thus making it a challenge to pull good consistent shots.

These steps are paramount when it comes to making great quality coffee. Whatever you have had at your local coffee maker or even renowned brands like Starbucks does not reflect even half of what a well-made espresso ought to taste. Freshly roasted and ground coffee coupled with a commercial machine and made with the attention it deserves, gives you the best quality espresso; rich and sweet.

These clever devices enable the user to connect their phone or other device to the speaker without wires, and the speaker we will be looking more closely at today is the Sylvania SP328 Portable Bluetooth Speaker. We will be taking a look at the features this speaker has, what is good about it, and of course, what needs to be improved, so all you have to do is carry on reading and let us do all the  hard work for you!

So tell me what features it has?

If you had ever taken a look on Speaker Digital before you would know that the possibilities for portable Bluetooth speakers are almost endless nowadays, so what makes this one so special? Well, for starters the design of this Bluetooth speaker is so much different to that of any other one on the market today. It has been carefully designed to look like a speaker you would find a a concert, so this is a rather cool aesthetic feature. AS for the technology inside the speaker itself, the Sylvania can create huge stereo sound with the two 4-inch Hi-Fi speakers. These speakers provide good treble and bass, and the volume controls ensure that you can crank it up to the max! It is very easy to connect this speaker to your device, and all you have to do is pair it with the Bluetooth on your phone or iPod and you are done!

Tell me a little more about the positive points

One of the biggest plus points about the Sylvania is the fact that it is incredibly lightweight. This means that you can take it wherever you go without worrying about having to carry something heavy. It is a compact little unit but this does not mean that the volume isn’t there as the speaker can easily fill an 18×17 foot room!

And the negative points too

One of the biggest issues customers have had with the Sylvania is to do with the connectivity of the Bluetooth device. Some people have said that if you take your phone too far away from the speaker then the signal will drop out and cause interruptions in the music. This is obviously less than ideal but can be solved easily by leaving your phone nearer to the speaker!

What’s the Conclusion?

If you are looking for a portable speaker that stands out from the crowd a little then this is the one for you. The Sylvania looks very different to most other portable speakers, but they have not sacrificed sound quality for looks here as the bass, treble, and volume are all very good too! Let’s get the party started now!

Syma X8G Headless Quadcopter Review

Technology is moving at a startling pace and one of the most impressive pieces of tech to come out of the last few years is the drone. Even just ten or so years ago, the thought of being able to utilise a machine no bigger than a car tyre to not only get some incredible pictures from a vantage point many will never even get to see in their lives, and also to potentially deliver packages to your home, then people would never have believed it. Nevertheless, this is the stage we have reached today, and the only question remaining is which is the right drone for you? To help you out we are going to be looking at the Syma X8G Headless Quadcopter and seeing just what it can do!

So what features does it have?

This drone may not be one of the most expensive on the market, but it certainly does have a lot of features which could lead you to believe otherwise. The flagship feature the Syma has is the Intelligent Orientation Control system. Put in simple terms, this system helps the pilot learn the ropes of drone flying by making the whole process easier and a lot more stable than it is on other machines. Also included On the Syma is an 8MP camera which will not only provide you with high quality pictures, but it is also compatible with 720p video too, so you can show off the films it helps you capture!

The positive points

This is a very straightforward drone to use and you will be able to fly it straight out of the box. Even for novice pilots the Syma is incredibly easy to use, and as a bonus you even get some additional parts like bumpers and crash landing gear to avoid any accidents! The camera which sits atop of the drone is also very impressive, and it will help you to get some good snaps from the air! If you want to compare this drone to other similar ones, then take a look at the RotorCopters website to do just that!

The negative points

To make a long story short, the battery in this drone is not as good as it could have been. It takes an age to charge (at around 200 minutes) and once it has, you only get around 5 to 8 minutes of flight time so this can definitely be improved in future models. One other small point to be improved is the size of the memory card in the camera, but this can easily be changed by buying a bigger one!

Conclusion

The Syma is the perfect drone for anyone looking to ease their way into the world of aviation. It is very simple to use, and yet it has an abundance of features that will keep even the most knowledgeable drone expert happy for days. IF you are looking for a new toy to play with, and one that is a little different to all of the others, then why not take a look at the Syma and check it out properly!
